it without you.
Also to eyeryone at Hodder & Stroughton, especially Rowena Webb, Briar

Grateful thanks to John Cousins, my business manager and friend, for

been invaluable. Also to Celia Quantrill, for so much superb research.
Finally, love and special thanks to Noel, my husband, whose constant
love and support has been with me through my darkest moments aud
greatest joys.
Thank you all for encircling my life.
I've inciuded these lyrics here, because of all John and Paul's songs
this is the one that speaks to me most. The sentiments in the song feel
especiaily appropriate as I've spent so much time, while writing this
book, reflecting on the piaces and people who've been in my life. But
it's not just the feelings expressed in the song that make it special to
me, it also reminds me of the time when John, Julian and I were at our
yery happiest. After the ups and downs of the eariy years and of
Beatlemania, all our dreams bad come true, we were happy, healthy,
successful and secure in our new home with our beautiful son.
In My Life
There are places I remember all my life,
Though some have changed,
Some forever, not for better,
Some have gone and some remain.
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall.
Some are dead and some arc living.
In my iife I've loved them all.
But of all these friends and lovers,
There is no one compares with you,
And these mem'ries lost their meaning
When I think of love as something new.
Though I know I'll neyer lose affection
For people and things that went before,
I know I'll often stop and think about them,
In my life I'll love you more.
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before,
I know I'll often stop and think about them,
In my life I'll love you more.
In my life I'll love you more.
